What Period Is Bridgerton Set In
Pull up a chair. Bridgerton is set in the Regency Era. That’s a fancy name for a very specific slice of English history.
It spans from 1811 to 1820. Not a long window, right? But it was packed with gossip, fashion, and political upheaval. Basically, the perfect setting for our beloved Featheringtons and Bridgertons.
Why “Regency” at All?
The name comes from King George III. He was, well, very unwell. Seriously, he was deemed unfit to rule.
So, his son—the future King George IV—stepped in as the “Regent.” Think of it as a grown-up holding the royal steering wheel while Dad’s in the back seat. That’s why we call it the Regency.
And let’s be honest, that Prince Regent? He was a bit of a diva. He loved parties, food, and scandalous affairs. Sound familiar? It’s like the whole era was designed for Bridgerton’s plotlines.
