Here’s the kicker: Roger Lloyd-Pack actually created Slater after his time as Trigger. The spin-off The Green Green Grass needed a new rival for Boycie, and Lloyd-Pack stepped in. Imagine being so good at one character that they let you invent another in the same universe—talk about job security!

The show only lasted four series, but Slater became a cult favorite. Fans loved his over-the-top schemes and his constant attempts to outsmart Boycie. It was like watching two peacocks argue over a parking spot.

And yes, when Lloyd-Pack passed away in 2014, fans mourned both Trigger and Slater. That’s what you call a double legacy, isn’t it?

So, What’s the Takeaway?

Next time you’re explaining this to a mate down the pub, you can drop the fact that Roger Lloyd-Pack played Slater. Watch their face go from confused to “No way!” in about two seconds. It’s a trivia nugget that makes you look like a proper sitcom nerd.

But more than that, it shows how a great actor can play two completely different roles in the same world without missing a beat. Trigger and Slater are like a cup of tea and a can of lager—both brilliant, but you wouldn’t confuse them.

So, who played Slater? Roger Lloyd-Pack, the same legend who played Trigger. And if that doesn’t make you smile, I don’t know what will. Cheers to that!
