How to Use the London Underground
This is the most important rule of your day: Stand on the right, walk on the left. If you stand on the left, you will feel the collective sigh of fifty impatient Londoners behind you. Think of the left side as a highway for speed-walkers who are late for brunch, and the right side as a scenic bridge for daydreamers.
I once stood on the left by accident. A man in a suit behind me didn’t say a word. He just cleared his throat with the force of a thousand trains. I learned my lesson. So unless you want to be the subject of a passive-aggressive cough, stay right when you’re not moving.
