Christmas Nevada City Ca
Let’s talk about the food, because Christmas is fueled by butter and sugar. Nevada City’s restaurants and pop-up stalls go all out. You can grab a hand-pie from a local bakery that’s flaky and filled with spiced apple, or a bowl of chili from a cart that’s been simmering since dawn.
My favorite little spot is a café that serves hot buttered rum with a cinnamon stick the size of my forearm. I sat by the window, watched the snow fall (yes, it really snows sometimes), and felt like I was in a cabin in the woods, except I was two blocks from a bookstore that sells used mysteries for three bucks. That’s the balance of this place: rustic and cozy, but totally walkable and easy.
