September Chrysanthemum Care: the Trick to a Fabulous Fall Display
September bugs love mums. Aphids, spider mites, and thrips see your plant as a buffet. Check the undersides of leaves. If you see sticky residue or webbing, act fast. Spray them with a strong jet of water or use insecticidal soap.
Don’t use harsh chemicals—you’ll kill the bees that still buzz around. Mums are pollinator magnets in autumn. A single plant can host dozens of happy, buzzy friends. Let them feast. Just evict the bad guys.
One more weird thing: Deer and rabbits usually skip mums. The leaves have a bitter taste. So your display is safe from furry thieves. Unless you have very stubborn, hungry deer. Then, good luck.
